*“Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris is reportedly sparring with his sister Colette again, and this time she is suing him for allegedly calling her a “no talent hack.”
Barris previously revealed that he’s had a rocky relationship with his sister for years. In 2020, he filed a restraining order against Colette Barris after claiming she was cashing in on his name, and threatening his kids.
According to newly filed legal documents obtained by The Blast, Colette claims she and her brother agreed not to trash-talk each other around Hollywood. They allegedly signed a contract over this, which Colette claims Kenya has breached as he continues to disparage her in the industry.
“The new case was filed in Los Angeles County Courts, with Colette claiming Kenya is trashing her all over town,” The Blast writes.

“In or around June 2022, Kenya stated to a third party that (Colette) was “a 70-year-old, no talent, hack“ and number two had not earned the “right to be a show creator“ but instead “wanted to go to the front of the line,” the document reads.
She continued, “The parties in pertinent part agreed ‘not to communicate any disparaging remarks about each other, or about any matters that led to this agreement.’”
Colette does not unpack the details of this “agreement” with her brother but as noted by The Blast, it could be connected to the restraining order. Barris filed it on December 28, 2020, and the RO reportedly noted that Colette was using her brother’s name to help fund her own projects.
The restraining order was reportedly dropped but it’s unclear what type of agreement was reached for this to happen.
In the new case, Colette says “Kenya’s breach of contract denied Colette the benefit of their bargain and was a substantial factor and causing her harm.”
