Wendy Williams Suffering Fatigue from Graves’ Disease, Talk Show on Hiatus

*Wendy Williams is taking time off from her talk show as she battles fatigue from Graves’ disease, a condition that causes the immune system to attack the thyroid.

A spokesperson for the “Wendy Williams Show” confirmed that “Wendy has been dealing with symptoms from her Graves’ disease, which is causing fatigue.”

“In consultation with her doctor and as a precautionary measure, she will be taking some time off as she continues to receive treatment,” the rep says, via PEOPLE. “We look forward to welcoming Wendy back soon and continuing the Wendy@Home shows.”

Wendy has been filming her show remotely from her home amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Repeats of daytime talker will air while the show is on hiatus. There’s no word yet on when she will return.

“Recently, Wendy has been dealing with symptoms from her Graves’ disease which is causing fatigue. In consultation with her doctor and as a precautionary measure, she will be taking some time off as she continues to receive treatment,” a spokesperson for the show says in a statement to Variety. “We look forward to welcoming Wendy back soon and continuing the ‘Wendy@Home’ shows. More updates on a return date will follow.”

Williams first announced that she was diagnosed with Graves’ disease in early 2018, when she took a three-week break from the show.

Two years ago, Wendy thanked her viewers for alerting her to Graves’ disease, saying at the time: “You caught it before I did. So what I want to say women, more than men, is stop putting everyone first… ‘Cause if we’re not good, they’re not good.”

Last year, she took a six-week break to heal from a shoulder fracture. Williams later revealed that she had been living in a sober house.
