Forget Pizza Rat. The latest rodent to go viral by being filmed hauling food bigger than its body toward home base is “Egg McMuffin Rat.”
That’s right, the furry lil’ hustler was spotted toting the McDonald’s breakfast item down the stairs at the Loralemon and Court Streets entrance in Brooklyn
Laurie Weir, 40, said she filmed the video March 9 at around 11:30 p.m. “It was garbage night so lots of bags out lining Joralemon St. I saw two rats, and this one was carrying something big in his mouth so I grabbed my phone and starting filming him on his pursuit down the stairs,” Weir wrote in an email to USA TODAY.

Commenters praised the rat amid the new coronavirus outbreak. “Egg McMuffin rat has the unity and leadership to lead us through this crisis,” one user tweeted. Another said, “Preparing for self-quarantine.”
