*The NBCUniversal TCA’s went down in Pasadena at the iconic Langham Huntington Hotel Saturday and the network covered everything they have in store for the upcoming years.
Actress Amy Poehler acted as NBC’s PR person (named Chip Sullivan) and as the audience laughed she confirmed that she and Tina Fey would be hosting the 2021 Golden Globes. She also announced that the show she currently stars in, “Making It,” will be renewed for a third season.
Another hit that NBC has decided to renew for 3 more seasons is the medical drama “New Amsterdam.” The show has brought in 9.8 million viewers between the ages of 18-49. Making it the number 5 scripted series on the network, right under This Is Us and Chicago Med.
Entertainment Chairman Paul Telegdy was excited to announce some fresh new content like Dwayne Johnson’s “The Young Rock” as Johnson himself actually face-timed in from his Atlanta area home to discuss some of the things the show will cover about his life.
Jimmy Fallon will be seen hosting a new series called “That’s My Jam.” The 10-episode series will be an unscripted music variety inspired by “Tonight Show” segments.
Telegdy went on to announce that “The Keenan Show” is coming this year but towards the end of this year. But the most anticipated event coming this year is the “2020 Tokyo Olympics” followed by the “2024 Olympics” right here in Los Angeles.
The network is elated about the new actual docu-series called “The New World.” NBC ordered the 10-part series from BBC Studios Natural History Unit, which will air in 2024. So get ready to enter the wilderness.
There are also some of your favorites coming back with additives like The Voice adding Nick Jonas to the judge’s chair, “Little Big Shots” now with Melissa McCarthy along with “Titan Games” starring Dwayne Johnson, “Songland” and “The World Of Dance” with Jennifer Lopez will all return. But still no confirmation on the talk show side of things like “Late With Lilly Singh” or “The Kelly Clarkson Show.”
Telegdy also said that he was unable to speak about the whole Gabrielle Union and AGT situation due to the investigation that’s still active. We’ll definitely stay tuned to that.
NBC let it be known at the TCA’S they’ve been satisfying viewers with solid content for a while now and still adding to their roster for a continuous flow of good entertainment.
So be on the lookout for This Is Us season 4, which returns on Tuesday, Jan. 14. “Indebted” starring Fran Drescher premiering Feb 6. “Manifest” which returned on Jan. 6th.
