Miami Spring Breakers Say Covid-19 ‘Ain’t That Serious’ [VIDEO]

*A group of college students did not let coronavirus stop them from turning up during spring break in Florida.

One Ohio man had this to say in response to CDC warnings to practice social distancing: “If I get corona, I get corona. At the end of the day, I’m not going to let it stop me from partying,” said aspiring rapper Brady Sluder. You know, I’ve been waiting, we’ve been waiting, for Miami spring break for about two months we’ve had this trip planned. Two, three months, and we’re just out here having a good time. Whatever happens, happens.”

Sluder’s Twitter bio notes that he “makes music.” According to his SoundCloud page, he goes by the moniker “Slud.”  His first song, “Never Turn Around,” was uploaded to his SoundCloud page in March 2019, per heavy.com

During the same interview, which had more than 14 million views as of early Thursday, others spoke on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) ordering all the state’s bars and nightclubs to shut down for 30 days to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus, Reuters reports.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has also urged the nation to curb gatherings of more than 50 people for the next two months.

“I support a quarantine of Miami spring breakers,” tweeted political scientist Ian Bremmer, the president of the Eurasia Group.

As the coronavirus continues to spread throughout the US, state and city officials are shutting down bars and restaurants. But many are calling the shut down during spring break too extreme.

“It’s really messing up with my spring break,” 21-year-old from Brianna Leeder of Wisconsin told Reuters. “What is there to do here other than go to the bars or the beach? And they’re closing all of it.” She added, “I think they’re blowing it way out of proportion. I think it’s doing way too much.”

Atlantis Walker also downplayed the severity of coronavirus, stating “This virus ain’t that serious.”
