*R. Kelly‘s longtime manager Don Russell chatted with Chicago reporters Thursday and denied the singer ever had sex with underage girls.
On Thursday morning, Tia A. Ewing of Fox32 News tweeted three separate video clips from the brief interview with Russell, who defended his friend against the sexual abuse charges he was arrested and indicted on last week.
When asked about the rumors that Kelly used to pick up female students from local high schools, Russell said: “He wasn’t going to that school because he was targeting somebody … he had a teacher who actually taught him how to play the piano and taught him about music and a lot of things. So he wasn’t going there targeting anybody, he was going there to learn more about his craft.”

Russell confirmed there are sex tapes of R. Kelly but only to prove the sex was consensual.
“The videos exist, but you have to think about this, Mike Tyson went to jail for what? He couldn’t prove what happened in that room, right? He’s not taping videos because he gets something off from it. He could have sex everyday if he wanted to, he’s R. Kelly. You got to think about that.
The only way to prove that it was consensual is maybe for him to tape it. That’s not what he chose to do, he was advised to do so on some occasions.”
When pressed about how an alleged 14-year-old found her way into R. Kelly’s bedroom in the first place, he responded: “…Whoever let the 14-year-old whatever you guys are saying, whoever let them get in the room…how did they get in there? Why did they get in there?”
Russell believes the alleged victims are simply trying to extort the singer, and he specifically pointed out Assante McGee.
“You got Assante McGee, who’s got, what, seven felonies? For extortion, for bribery, for theft. Why is her rap sheet not in question right now? Why is she not the person people are looking at thinking she might have extorted him?”
