Onitsuka Tiger Names Will Smith Social Media Project Partner [VIDEO]

*Onitsuka Tiger is one of the oldest shoe companies in Japan, and the brand is teaming with one of the biggest stars in Hollywood.

To celebrate its 70th anniversary, Onitsuka Tiger has released a visually arresting video to announce that Will Smith will be serving as its newest social media project partner.

In the .44 second clip, Smith rocks Onitsuka Tiger’s signature yellow, and Mexico 66 SD sneakers. The actor’s legs appear to grow and he is seen stepping over the Brooklyn Bridge, dancing in front of the Great Pyramids and flying through the skies on a giant eagle. At another point, Smith appears in a hot air balloon that looks like his face, per WWD.com.

“Will Smith is actively engaged in various projects such as those addressing environmental issues, having global, borderless influence on women and men of all ages via social media with his unique sense of humor and international awareness,” reads a press release from the brand. “And Onitsuka Tiger also strives to be a brand that provides Japanese technology and craftsmanship to the world via product design, making social contributions, and at the same time a brand that is more social media-friendly. Feeling this strong affinity, we decided to start this collaboration project.”

The Onitsuka Tiger clip is not the only new teaser this week with Smith attached.

On Wednesday Sony Pictures Entertainment dropped the trailer for the long-awaited “Bad Boys for Life,” the latest installment in the hit franchise starring Smith and Martin Lawrence.

Both stars previously teased about reprising their roles as Detectives Mike Lowery and Marcus Burnett in the actioner. In a video shared on Facebook by Smith, the actors revealed that the new movie “is crazy,” Smith said in the clip with Lawrence by his side. “That’s it, no more, ya’ll can’t handle no more of that!,” he added.
