*Well now, this should be interesting and could very well start a movement.

We’re referring to the fact that Project Islamic Hope President Najee Ali and Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable President Earl Ofari Hutchinson and other civil rights leaders on Monday, January 7 are set to call on KJLH Radio, the Stevie Wonder owned Los Angeles area broadcast outlet to boycott R. Kelly’s music. The group is also petitioning all the other Black/Urban/R&B stations across the nation to also stop playing R. Kelly’s music.

Their call is “No profit in sexual victimization.”

They are set to make the announcement at a press conference tomorrow (January 7, 2019).

Press Conference
When: Monday, January 7, 10 AM
Where: Front of KJLH Radio, 161 N. LaBrea, Inglewood 90301

A statement sent to EURweb by the coalition reads:

“R. Kelly has a long and notorious history as a sexual predator of underage girls. He has publicly and brazenly flaunted this sexual victimization of women. Yet he still makes millions and enjoys unprecedented fame and celebrity because radio stations continue to play, and fans continue to buy, his music. This sends the horrible message that there is no real penalty in the music and entertainment marketplace for sexual victimization. A boycott of his music by radio stations will send the message that there must be,” the statement says. It continued with this: “Our coalition is also calling for a meeting with Wonder, Karen Slade the Vice-president of KJLH Radio and station management.

“KJLH Radio and all radio stations who support R. Kelly by playing his music are enablers to a serial child molester. Wonder who has done so much for humanity as a philanthropist shouldn’t want his name or station tainted by continued support of R.Kelly. KJLH Radio and all the stations who play R Kelly music are making a financial profit and should choose to support the victims of sexual abuse over money,” commented Ali and Hutchinson.
