It’s ‘Ladies First’ At Café Mocha Charlotte Salute Her Awards Presented by Toyota at the Mint Museum Uptown Friday, October 18

Charlotte Salute Her

*(CHARLOTTE)On the heels of successful celebrations in Washington, D.C. and New York City where powerful voices of freedom like community activist and MSNBC political analyst Karine JeanPierre thundered and Broadway titans like Leslie Uggams and LaTanya Richardson Jackson reigned,  the Café Mocha Radio show’s Salute Her Awards Presented by Toyota rolls into Charlotte.

Two-time Gracie Award-winning Café Mocha Radio, affectionately known as ‘Radio from a Woman’s Perspective,’ joins forces with V101.9 WBAV, (airing Sunday evenings 7 – 9pm) with sponsors Toyota, Sisters From AARP, Luster Pink and American Airlines will present an unforgettable evening of unfiltered female power marked by “Ladies First” achievements.

Taking this year’s theme of “Step Into Your Power” to its highest heights the Salute Her Awards Charlotte will honor  Mayor Vi Lyles, the city’s first Black female mayor; artist/activist Bree Newsome Bass who bravely snatched the Confederate flag from atop the South Carolina State House in 2015; Melissa Harville-Lebron, the first Black woman to own a NASCAR team; American Airlines Community Engagement Specialist Amani Council, North Carolina Army National Guard’s first Black female Black Hawk Pilot Lt. Lindsey Jefferies; Dimple Tansen Ajmera, the city’s youngest woman and first Asian-American woman to serve on the City Council and more.

The Salute Her Awards will take place at the Mint Museum Uptown (500 Tryon Street Charlotte, NC 28202) on Friday, October 18, 2019 and features a special performance from the sensational gospel trio, The HamilTones, which rose to fame as standout background singers for Grammy-winning artist, Anthony Hamilton.

By amplifying the dialogue around various women’s issues that include family, health, relationships, beauty standards, social justice and entrepreneurship while also shining a spotlight on the positive contributions women of color make, Café Mocha—hosted by Emmy-winning The Real host and comedienne Loni Love, hip-hop pioneer and newest Love & Hip-Hop: Hollywood cast member YoYo and radio broadcast veteran Angelique Perrin—has emerged as the #1 radio show for women of color.  The awards were created to spotlight the many phenomenal women who are winning in their fields and sharing those fruits with others through an elegant awards celebration in various cities.
