*Talk about a monster mash … up, “Godzilla: King of the Monters” is mixing it up with the legendary Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
Doing what appears to be more harm than good, the crypto-zoological agency Monarch, has no clue to the extent of the chaos and disaster that will unfold this time around them. If monster brawls is your type of thing, this is the movie for you. But I found the unrelenting reptilians warfare exhausting.
Directed by Michael Dougherty, the human stars of “Godzilla” are Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Ken Watanabe, Sally Hawkins, , Millie Bobby Brown, O’Shea Jackson, Jr., Ziyi Zhang, Aisha Hinds, David Strathairn, Charles Dance, and Thomas Middleditch.

‘Rocketman’
Casting is key when it comes to the success of a film, and Taron Egerton nails it as Elton John. The rest of the cast is just as impressive. Fans and the like will delight in John’s rise to the top, from shy piano prodigy Reginald Dwight into international superstar Elton John. He not only overcame the bullying of his peers and father, but later in life his mother’s harsh words.
Directed by Dexter Fletcher, the film also stars Jamie Bell, Richard Madden, John Reid, Bryce Dallas Howard, Gemma Jones, Tate Donovan, Steven Mackintosh, and Sharmina Harrower.
Speaking of Fletcher, as the New Yorker notes, “last year, he assumed command of the Freddie Mercury film, “Bohemian Rhapsody,” and steered it to a safe harbor, after the previous director walked the plank. If you need somebody to recount the rise of a British rock god from pallid suburbia to the baroque extremes of fame, and to create a stir without causing too much of a fuss, Fletcher is your man.”
