Damon Wayans

*Damon Wayans is returning to multicamera comedy with a new sitcom at ABC.

He previously co-created and starred in the network’s hit sitcom “My Wife and Kids,” and he’s re-teaming with series co-creator Don Reo on the new comedy, “Let’s Stay Together” (working title).

“Wayans is reteaming with ‘My Wife and Kids’ co-creator Don Reo on the new family comedy, ‘Let’s Stay Together’ (working title), which we hear has received a script commitment plus penalty from ABC,” Deadline reports. “The project, now in development, will be produced by ABC Studios, a division of Disney TV Studios.”

The report adds: “According to sources, ‘Let’s Stay Together’ is being pitched as a family comedy for a new kind of family. It will star Wayans as a single father who finds out it’s hard to get rid of millennial kids, and their kids. The sitcom reportedly features a story line that mirrors Wayans’ own life.”

“My Wife and Kids” ran on ABC for five seasons and is one of ABC Studios’ most successful comedy series.
Wayans, who has been seen lately on Fox’s “Lethal Weapon,” is also going back on the road, as he reportedly plans on returning to the stand up comedy stage this fall.

We previously reported on the behind-the-scenes controversy that ultimately led to Clayne Crawford’s removal from the set of “Lethal Weapon,” and Seann William Scott was tapped to replace him. We also exclusively reported on Wayans’ health issues which had him side-eyeing his future on the series. Ultimately the show was cancelled on Fox despite attempting to set up Season 4.

Last TV season, Damon Wayans appeared on his son Damon Wayans Jr.’s new (and now cancelled) series “Happy Together.”
