*Rapper Lil’ Bike is aggressively pursuing stardom and his new single Grind has him well-positioned to claim his spot among today’s hottest young artists. The Atlanta transplant who represents Champaign, Illinois, is T.I.G Records’ newest addition.
Grind is a motivational song that is sure to resonate with those who can relate to facing adversity and doubters on the road to success. After all, things were never easy for Lil’ Bike. Growing up to a Black mother and Mexican and White father, he frequently was singled out by other kids and recalls fighting on a frequent basis. Trouble often found him, but as a teenager, he sought music as his place of solace and refuge.
Having developed his sound and swagger by listening to his favorite artists like Lil’ Wayne, Kevin Gates, Boosie Badazz and Pimp C, Lil’ Bike possesses confidence and lyrical agility with a hint of southern flavor.
In 2015, he released his first song Do It For You, which went viral on Soundcloud, garnering 334,000 plays. His single Drillinois gained nearly 300,000 views on YouTube, ultimately helping him to capture the attention of his label.
Now, Lil’ Bike says it is only up from here.
“I’m am ready to come in and take over,” he said. “I also want to inspire people. When you listen to me, you know that anything is possible. If I can do it, you can do it.”
