*On Tuesday, March 13, the ladies of “The Real” welcome back guest co-host Mel B, and talk about if playing hard to get is a smart move in the dating game. Also, is it upsetting to be called “sir” or “ma’am” by someone younger than you?
And Academy Award-nominated director and producer Ava DuVernay visits The Real to discuss her new movie, A Wrinkle in Time. She shares her feelings about “The DuVernay Test,” as suggested by The New York Times, how people can evolve in their career and the worst piece of advice she ever received.

Ava Talks About “The DuVernay Test”
Adrienne Houghton: A New York Times reporter proposed an inclusion check for diversity called “The DuVernay Test.” It’s a way to measure whether a film has characters of importance portrayed by actors of color. How does that make you feel to have a test named after you?
Ava DuVernay: It’s incredible. One of – a writer that I really love, Manohla Dargis, at The New York Times, decided that she was going to name this test after me – an honor, but you really hope that people will take these kinds of things under consideration. When you’re in the writer’s room, when you’re writing a script, when you’re directing – look around and say, “Wow – be nice to have some people of color in this scene!”
Loni Love: Exactly.
Ava: You know what I mean? Or behind the camera. What? You know what?
Loni: Right.
[The Real audience applauds]
Ava: We have to have more of it.
Adrienne: Absolutely, it’s so great.
