*It’s Black History Month and there could not be a better time for Black Panther to powerfully prowl across the silver screens of America. Whether you are an ardent comic book fan of Marvel’s Black Panther, or recently heard about the superhero based on the film’s electrifying buzz, the fact is, black history on the silver screen will be made on Friday, Feb. 16, when Marvel Studio’s Black Panther makes it debuts at a theater near you in a spectacular manner.

While many of Marvel’s superheroes have starred in their respective movies over the past three decades, this will be the iconic comic book’s first motion picture with a predominately black cast. The all-star cast is led by Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, aka T’Challa. Black Panther/T’Challa is king and protector of the fictional and highly-advanced African nation of Wakanda. The supporting cast includes Michael B. Jordan, Forest Whitaker (Oscar winner), Lupita Nyong’o (Oscar winner), Angela Bassett, among others.

The video clip explains how Black Panther made his Marvel comic book debut in 1966, the same year the Black Panther Party made its debut in America in the name of black power. Marvel comic book creators, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, claimed in interviews in the ‘60s there was no collusion of any sort to match the name of the super character with the name of the super black power group. Lee and Kirby said the origin of their Black Panther character preceded the Black Panther Party by a few months. Interesting!

The video will also show that Lee and Kirby tried to change Black Panther’s name to Black Leopard, which didn’t go over very well with the multiplicity of fans that started to follow Black Panther from his inception 52 years ago.

Speaking of 52 years ago, which was the time-period of Jim Crow’s racist laws and deeds in the South, video watchers will see Black Panther and bigotry up close and personal. They will see what happened when Black Panther met the Klan. It wasn’t pretty!
