*Beyonce has a history with surprise album releases so when new music from “Queen Carter” dropped on Apple Music and Spotify late Thursday, the Beyhive was abuzz with excitement.
Turns out it was all a big hoax.
As reported by nypost.com, two “new” albums — 10-tracks on each —dropped on Apple Music and Spotify listed under the artist name Queen Carter: “Have Your Way” and “Back Up, Rewind.”
It reportedly took fans a while to realize that all 20 tracks are old B-sides and unreleased songs with titles such as “Black Culture” and “Twerk.”
Both albums were removed from the streaming services by midnight.
Beyonce is the second artist to be played by “fake” leaked music on Thursday. An album titled Comethru appeared on Spotify, featuring nine unreleased SZA tracks under the name Sister Solana.
“These are random scratches from 2015. Def not new new!” the singer wrote against a screenshot of the album art. “But…creative? And Scary?”
In related news, Beyoncé traveled to India earlier this month to perform for a pre-wedding event for the daughter of the richest man in the country. She just released some intimate photos from the trip showing her 1½-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir Carter.
In one photo, she’s holding daughter Rumi on a beach as the child plays with a colorful shell. Another captured Rumi and Sir at sunset, sitting in the sand and staring out at the ocean… see below.
