*BET has teamed with liberal political commentator Angela Rye for a series she’ll be hosting and executive producing.
“Angela Rye’s State of the Union” (working title), a primetime rebuttal to President Trump’s State of the Union address, will be the first of her quarterly specials to air Wednesday, January 31 at 10PM PT on BET.
Rye expressed excitement about the new venture saying, “Working with BET always provides a reminder of why I began to do this work. It is essential that we have platforms where we can discuss our politics, our challenges, and our culture through our respective lenses. The upcoming special will provide a glimpse of what’s to come with our partnership.”

In addition to Angela Rye, BET Networks also announced that award-winning BET News anchor Marc Lamont Hill has renewed his contract to continue anchoring BET News’ 2018 breaking news coverage, specials and town halls.
“I couldn’t be happier to remain a part of the BET family. I am proud to help deliver the programming that our community needs and deserves. I am also excited to be joined by my brilliant colleague Angela Rye, who will make our team stronger than ever,” Hill said on the renewed opportunity with BET.
In addition to his work for BET News, Dr. Hill is a featured political contributor for CNN, and has won numerous prestigious awards from the National Association of Black Journalists, GLAAD, and the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences.
