*NBC’s live version of “The Wiz” has found its Tin Man and Scarecrow.
Ne-Yo has been cast as the Tin Man, while Elijah Kelley comes on as the Scarecrow – joining David Alan Grier as the Cowardly Lion and newcomer Shanice Williams as Dorothy.
The four will ease on down the road toward Common, who will play the “non-singing Gatekeeper of Oz,” NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt announced this morning at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour in Beverly Hills.
Kelly will be reuniting with his “Hairspray” co-star Queen Latifah, who will play “The Wiz” in NBC’s live version, to be broadcast on Dec. 3 at 8 p.m.
As previously reported, Mary J. Blige will star as Evillene, Uzo Aduba as Glinda, Amber Riley as Addaperle and Stephanie Mills as Auntie Em.
