Lorraine Toussaint Headed to TV One’s ‘Runaway Island’

SAVING GRACE (TNT)

*Lorraine Toussaint, last seen on the Emmy nominated “Orange is the New Black,” is set to star in the upcoming TV One original movie, “Runaway Island,” premiering Saturday, July 25 at 8 p.m.

Toussaint will play lead character Naomi Holloway, an affluent Capitol Hill grandmother and new widow who joins a group of troubled strangers looking to escape their grief. They end up sharing a transformational experience on an island steeped in African American heritage and culture.

The film was written by Christopher Brandt, the 2014 American Black Film Festival screenplay competition winner, and directed by Academy Award nominee Dianne Houston (“Take the Lead”).

Toussaint’s Naomi Holloway is about as far away from her former “Orange” character, Vee – a ruthless manipulator who met a fate as brutal as the pain she inflicted on others.
