*The upcoming third season of “Euphoria” may arrive with behind-the-scenes tension, as reports suggest Zendaya has been avoiding public appearances with co-star Sydney Sweeney.
The Tribune reports that the alleged rift stems from backlash surrounding Sweeney’s American Eagle campaign, which carried the tagline “Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans” and faced accusations of promoting white supremacy.
Sources speaking with Daily Mail claim Zendaya has maintained distance from Sweeney ahead of the show’s third season, scheduled to premiere in spring 2026. “It’s a difficult position for Zendaya to be in,” a source claimed, explaining that public association with Sweeney could be interpreted as endorsing her co-star’s rumored political leanings. Many reports have suggested Sweeney is a Republican, but she has not publicly confirmed this
The situation intensified when President Donald Trump defended Sweeney on Truth Social, calling it the “HOTTEST ad.” American Eagle defended its marketing choice, stating: “‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story,” the company said in a statement posted on social media. “We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way. Great jeans look good on everyone.”

In a recent interview with GQ, Sydney Sweeney addressed the backlash surrounding the campaign. “I did a jean ad,” she said. “I mean, the reaction definitely was a surprise, but I love jeans. All I wear are jeans. I’m literally in jeans and a T-shirt every day of my life.”
When the interviewer noted that the ad’s wordplay—“good genes” versus “good jeans”—had been criticized for implying “genetic superiority,” Sweeney declined to comment directly on that point. “I think that when I have an issue that I want to speak about, people will hear,” she responded.
