*YouTube TV is rolling out five genre-based subscription tiers designed to let customers tailor their packages to what they actually watch — and pay less in the process.
As Cord Cutter reports, the new plans break content into categories like sports, news, entertainment, and family programming. Monthly pricing shakes out as follows: the Sports Plan runs $64.99, Sports + News costs $71.99, Sports + News + Entertainment is $77.99, the Entertainment Plan comes in at $54.99, and the News + Entertainment + Family bundle is $69.99. All five land below YouTube TV’s standard base plan, which sits around $83 per month before any introductory deals.
Core platform features carry over across every tier. That means unlimited cloud DVR, simultaneous streaming on multiple devices, up to six household profiles, fantasy sports integration, and key highlights. The Sports Plan covers the major broadcast networks — NBC, ABC, Fox, and CBS — plus channels like FS1, NBC Sports Network, and ESPN, with ESPN Unlimited joining the lineup later this year. Add-ons such as NFL Sunday Ticket are still available for purchase.

The entertainment-focused tiers pull in networks including FX, Comedy Central, Bravo, Paramount Network, Food Network, and HGTV. For families and news junkies, the News + Entertainment + Family package layers in national news channels along with kid-oriented options like Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, PBS Kids, and National Geographic.
Switching between plans is handled directly in the app whenever subscribers choose. Downgrades take effect right away with prorated credits for the remaining billing cycle. Existing add-ons transfer to the new plan, though promotional pricing may not. DVR libraries adjust to reflect the updated channel lineup, but recordings from dropped channels stay recoverable for 21 days if a subscriber decides to switch back.
The tiered approach gives cord-cutters a more customizable, cost-friendly path into YouTube TV without sacrificing the platform’s signature features.
