*Acclaimed animator-director Jeron Braxton, a Sundance prize-winner, is making his feature film debut with “Slime,” a bold animated project boasting a powerhouse cast.
Leading the ensemble is Willow Smith, who voices Muna, the film’s central character. The lineup also includes Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi, Teyana Taylor, Anna Sawai, John Cho, and John Boyega, according to Deadline. Set in a near-futuristic dystopia, “Slime” follows Muna, a financially strapped young woman who joins a paid clinical trial. After being injected with a mysterious creature’s slime, she gains uncontrollable, destructive powers.
Deadline writes: “On the run, she kidnaps Glenn (Mescudi), the lab worker who injected her, and the two set out on a perilous odyssey through a crumbling dystopian world in search of refuge and a cure. But as the clock runs out, is Muna transforming into humanity’s worst nightmare or its last, unlikely savior?”.

Braxton’s vision combines anime-inspired visuals with retro video-game aesthetics, shaping a distinctive pre-apocalyptic sci-fi monster tale. The film features an original score and soundtrack by Kid Cudi. Brian Ash penned the screenplay, while Hammerstone Studios funds the project, with Script 2 Screen, Mad Solar, and Capstone Pictures producing. Animation is being handled by Folks VFX, promising striking, immersive visuals.
With its inventive visuals, original music, and star-studded cast, “Slime” could emerge as a standout animated feature. Voice recording begins next month, though details about the cast’s characters—beyond Muna and Glenn—remain under wraps.
