*Investigation Discovery is turning the spotlight on the deadly world of contract killings with its latest true-crime series, “Who Hired the Hitman?”
The six-episode show premieres Tuesday, November 4 at 10/9c on ID, with episodes available to stream the following day on HBO Max. Watch the trailer above.

According to the news release, Each installment examines a different murder-for-hire case, exposing webs of deceit, hidden motives, and unexpected masterminds. The series traces “twisted trails of phone calls, endless suspects, deceiving alibis, and the hidden motives of murder-for-hire plots,” as victims, suspects, and detectives are drawn into the dark underbelly of betrayal and greed.
The premiere episode, “Home on the Rage,” opens with the death of a farmer found on his kitchen floor. As investigators close in, “everyone on the property becomes a suspect in a complicated investigation that leads to a shocking discovery.”
Future episodes highlight equally haunting stories. “The Murder of Big Joe,” airing November 11, follows the killing of a beloved snow plowman whose small-town community is shaken when police uncover a clue “on the victim’s forehead that may be the killer’s calling card.” On November 18, “The Witch Doctor” explores a murder case entangled in “illegal chicken fighting, drag racing, cheating, and a mysterious figure nicknamed ‘The Witch Doctor.’”
In “A Hard Man to Kill,” premiering November 25, the NYPD tracks a string of murder attempts against a real estate entrepreneur “only to discover that no one is who they seem.” The December 2 episode, “The Genius and the Mastermind,” spans decades as detectives chase “missing gold,” a “Saudi sheik,” and a global conspiracy. The season concludes December 9 with “Dead Body Shop,” where a triple homicide in Connecticut exposes “a world of chatrooms, embezzlement, an illicit love affair, and three families of potential suspects.”
“Who Hired the Hitman?” is produced for Investigation Discovery by Magilla Entertainment.
