According to the New York Post, the stylist has developed a technique that shapes a dog’s fur to resemble a Brazilian Butt Lift, creating the illusion of fuller “butt cheeks” using only careful trimming.
Rago, who began grooming professionally at 14, told the California Post he has completed around 50 canine “BBLs.” Prices begin at $225 for small dogs and rise depending on size. Videos of the sculpted cuts have spread widely across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.

Though he describes the style as “controversial,” Rago says the dogs seem to enjoy the attention the look brings. “We give the dogs a cute haircut, they walk on the street, they get so much love and attention because they look amazing. And so I think, you know, as long as the dog is happy and comfortable, then these people’s comments don’t matter.”
The concept started at home with his black poodle, Raikou, after noticing the dog would “wave” his butt. After experimenting with the sculpted shape, he tried the look on a Pomeranian. “I thought, oh, it would be funny to give him a BBL as well, so I decided to carve some hair. It just looked so ridiculous – and everybody, you know, went crazy for it,” he said. Demand quickly followed. “When [the video] first went viral, it was pretty much every day I had a client asking for one,” he said.
Rago joked, “Even in the video I called my dog black Kim Kardashian.”
“I definitely think there are the clients that come to me those who really treat their pets as their babies,” he said. “They’re the type of people that put their dogs in the dog carriages.”
