*President Donald Trump told reporters that Sean “Diddy” Combs reached out to him seeking a presidential pardon following his recent conviction.
Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump said, “A lot of people have asked me for pardons. I call him Puff Daddy. He has asked me for a pardon.” As Deadline reports, Trump did not indicate whether he intended to grant the request.
The music mogul was sentenced on October 3 to four years in prison after being found guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He will also serve five years of supervised release following his sentence. With time served since his 2024 arrest, he is expected to be released in 2028.

According to a source close to Combs, his plea for a pardon reflects his desperation. The insider told Rolling Stone in May that Combs “doesn’t even like Donald Trump” but added, “He’s willing to do anything to get out of jail. He’s always been this way. He’s always going to do what he has to do to get out of a situation.”
The rapper and businessman’s federal case began in May 2025 after his arrest and indictment in the Southern District of New York on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking by force, and transportation for purposes of prostitution. Prosecutors accused Combs of running a sex trafficking operation concealed behind his celebrity empire.
His trial, presided over by Judge Arun Subramanian, started with jury selection on May 5. Opening statements and testimony began a week later, and both sides concluded their cases on June 24. After three days of jury deliberation, Combs was found guilty on July 2 of two transportation charges but acquitted on racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking counts. He was denied bail and remained in custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
Combs’s legal team confirmed they had contacted Trump’s circle about a potential pardon. The two men share a long history, with Trump once praising Combs during a 2012 episode of “Celebrity Apprentice,” saying, “I love Diddy… he’s a good friend of mine.”
Trump was asked about pardoning Combs during an August interview with Newsmax, saying, “Well, he was essentially, I guess, sort of half innocent. Probably— I was very friendly with him but when I ran for office he was very hostile and it’s hard. So, I don’t know, it’s more difficult.”
Despite their past connection, Trump has given no public sign of whether he plans to intervene in Combs’s case.
