*Tiffany “New York” Pollard is stepping back into the spotlight with a new reality competition — and with fresh honesty about her gender identity. The 43-year-old television personality says she “resonates” with the non-binary community, describing her experience of sometimes feeling “more masculine” and at other times deeply feminine.
“I really do resonate with non-binary because I feel like we are so dual without even recognising it,” she told PinkNews. “Because it takes two sexes for us to get here, so some days I may feel a lot more masculine and sometimes I’m super feminine, and that’s OK.”
Her reflections on gender follow years of candid conversation about sexuality. In 2023, she publicly identified as queer, later explaining on “The Jason Lee Show” that she has “lived a very, very broad life.” She recalled to PinkNews that her first same-sex kiss happened during junior high and “felt right.”

“The first time I ever really kissed a girl, I think it was in junior high, and I knew and it was fine. It felt good, it felt right. It had to happen at some point,” she said. “You gonna come out of that closet and once you do it’s like, ‘OK, wow, this world is open to me in new ways and sweetie, shoving me back in the closet is never going to be an option.’”
Pollard’s next chapter unfolds with “Slayers: Wheel of Fate,” premiering October 8 on OUTflix and OUTflix Proud. She serves as both host and executive producer of the series, which follows ten queer gamers in a fantasy-style showdown. According to the official synopsis, the contestants face “a mysterious castle, a villain named Queen Karen, and a ‘dragon’ that eats the eliminated contestant every week,” with the winner taking home $25,000.
Her decision to lead an LGBTQ+ cast aligns with her long-standing reputation as a queer fan favorite, dating back to her VH1 days on “Flavor of Love.” Pollard credits that community for sustaining her career. “I feel like if I didn’t have such a strong connection with the queer fanbase that I have, I don’t know if I would still be in the game as prevalently as I am. They keep the HBIC [Head B**h In Charge] alive. I love to hear my sht recited,” she said.
For Pollard, embracing projects like “Slayers” is a way to give back to the people who have stood by her. “And then, also, to do a show like [Slayers] and to be involved, it was just like, sign me up. I was just grateful that I have the connection that I do with my queer fanbase.”
