*Lionsgate has unveiled the official trailer for “The Strangers – Chapter 2,” the next chilling installment in the iconic horror franchise, set to hit theaters on September 26, 2025.
Directed by Renny Harlin and written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland, this sequel builds on the terrifying legacy of the 2008 cult classic, “The Strangers,” created by Bryan Bertino. Fans are invited to dive deeper into the eerie world of Venus, Oregon, through an immersive in-world website, visitvenusoregon.com, which offers a glimpse into the town’s unsettling history. By entering the password “welcometovenus,” visitors can explore the Town Archive and even book a stay in the secluded cabins featured in the film using the code “istamarahere.”
“The Strangers – Chapter 2” follows Maya, played by Madelaine Petsch, who survived the brutal events of the first chapter only to face the relentless return of the masked intruders. The official synopsis reveals a darker, more intense pursuit: “The Strangers are back – more brutal and relentless than ever. When they learn that one of their victims, Maya (Madelaine Petsch), is still alive, they return to finish what they’ve started.” With no safe haven and trust shattered, Maya must navigate a nightmarish fight for survival against assailants driven by a chilling, unyielding motive.
The film stars Gabriel Basso and Ema Horvath alongside Petsch, with a production team including Courtney Solomon, Mark Canton, and others. Watch the trailer above.

“The Strangers” franchise began with the 2008 psychological horror film, which depicted a couple terrorized by three masked intruders in a remote vacation home. Inspired by real-life events like the Manson family Tate murders and break-ins from Bertino’s childhood, the original film, made on a $9 million budget, became a sleeper hit, grossing $82 million worldwide. Despite mixed reviews, its tense atmosphere earned it cult status. The series continued with “The Strangers: Prey at Night” in 2018 and the first of a new trilogy, “The Strangers – Chapter 1,” in May 2024.
