*Objectively Good Media is developing “Seventy-Two,” a biopic about Steve Harvey.
According to Deadline, the film, which will be produced by Mohamed Kheir and Matthew R. Cooper for OGM, along with Harvey and Thabiti Stephens of East 112, will focus on a pivotal 72-hour period before Harvey’s key 1993 Apollo Theatre performance. The biopic aims to offer an in-depth look at Harvey’s journey from leaving a stable job to pursuing comedy, highlighting the challenges and personal struggles he faced leading up to a career-changing moment. A writer has not yet been assigned to the project.
“I’ve been reluctant to make a movie about my life for years, until I read the pitch for Seventy-Two,” Harvey stated. “It focuses on one of the most difficult moments in my journey and career, and shows the world that hope is never truly lost. Wait until you see what we do with this.”
Per Deadline, OGM’s Kheir said “securing the rights to tell this story has been an incredible honor. Steve Harvey’s ability to turn his trials into triumphs is inspiring, and Seventy-Two will showcase the resilience and determination that defined those pivotal days. We look forward to sharing this powerful narrative with audiences worldwide.”
In related news, we reported earlier that Harvey appeared to threaten fellow comedian Katt Williams for insulting him on Club Shay Shay earlier this year.

In case you missed it, during Katt’s conversation with Shannon Sharpe on the popular YouTube podcast, he accused Harvey of stealing the concept of fellow comedian Mark Curry’s “Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper” for his sitcom “The Steve Harvey Show” that ran in the 90s.
Harvey spoke at Atlanta’s Invest Fest over the weekend, where he vented frustrations about his “haters,” and seemingly directed his remarks at Williams, Complex reports.
“You’ll never have a hater that’s doing better than you, always know that,” Harvey told the audience. “Don’t get off the wall to address some petty-ass boy who ain’t got shit going for himself, stop your climb on up the wall so you can come down here and talk to his little punk ass.”
He continued, “Don’t do that, man! I stay away from it. Do I want to [confront them]? Yes, because I’m a human being. And I’m hood. I used to be a fighter, and I still got hands. They slow, but if you get up on me real close, I can still knock yo’ monkey ass out,” Harvey said.
“I just don’t have the quickness I had, but I can still turn my hip and shift that weight, and I’d knock yo’ short a** out,” he added. “I’d shoot yo’ perm straight out yo’ head.”
So far, Katt has not responded to Steve’s remarks.
