*On Sunday’s edition of Football Night in America, veteran NBC analyst Rodney Harrison had a noticeable on-air moment when he abruptly trailed off. While breaking down how the Denver Broncos could attack the Washington Commanders’ defense ahead of their matchup, Harrison started his explanation but suddenly went silent in the middle of a sentence, leaving viewers momentarily puzzled.
After a brief silence, Harrison asked for the question to be repeated, then wrapped up his answer with a short, “That’s it. I’m sorry, guys.” Even though the moment lasted only a few seconds, viewers immediately took to social media to speculate about his health, with many wondering if Harrison might be facing a medical concern.
Sports media outlet Awful Announcing addressed the incident, posting, “There was some concern about NBC’s Rodney Harrison not appearing well during Football Night in America. We are told he is fine and will appear postgame on Peacock.”

Harrison carried on with the broadcast without any further issues. He later told Karen Guregian of MassLive that he was dealing with a lack of sleep. “I was exhausted working on a few hours of sleep watching my son play Saturday night. I had 3 hours of sleep on Sunday and had to work all day,” Harrison said via text. “I was suffering from exhaustion. But I’m good.”
The 52-year-old has been a fixture on NBC’s NFL coverage since hanging up his cleats in 2009. Over a 15-year playing career with the San Diego Chargers and New England Patriots, he won two Super Bowls and earned All-Pro honors. In 2025, Harrison was inducted into the Chargers Hall of Fame.
