This refreshing recipe combines pomegranate and fresh lemon juice with ouzo, a Greek liqueur flavored with anise that’s traditionally enjoyed as an aperitif (a drink served before a meal to stimulate the appetite).
Fresh mint provides a cooling herbal note that complements the sweet-tart balance of the fruit juices. A splash of club soda adds effervescence, while an orange peel garnish contributes aromatic citrus oils. The result is a bright, light cocktail perfect for warm weather sipping.

Ingredients
- 24 mint leaves
- 1/2 cup ouzo (4 oz.)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened pomegranate juice
- 6 Tbsp. simple syrup (see Note above)
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 3/4 cup club soda
- 4 orange peel strips
Directions
- Add ingredients to shaker:
Place mint leaves, ouzo, pomegranate juice, simple syrup, and lemon juice in a large cocktail shaker. - Shake cocktail:
Fill shaker with ice; cover and shake 2 or 3 times until just chilled. - Top with club soda:
Pour through a fine mesh strainer into 4 Collins glasses filled with ice. Top with club soda; stir briefly.
Garnish and serve:
Squeeze orange peel strips over cocktails. Place strips in glasses and serve.
