*Actor Michael Madsen, renowned for his gripping performances in Quentin Tarantino’s films, died at 67 from an apparent cardiac arrest at his Malibu home on Thursday morning, as confirmed by his managers and publicist.
Deadline reports that Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call and pronounced him dead at the scene. With a career spanning over four decades, Madsen’s intense portrayals, particularly as Mr. Blonde in “Reservoir Dogs” (1992) and Budd in “Kill Bill: Volume 2″ (2004), cemented his status as a Hollywood icon.
Per NBC News, the late Roger Ebert praised Madsen’s performance in”Reservoir Dogs,” stating: “One of the discoveries in the movie is Madsen, who has done a lot of acting over the years … but here emerges with the kind of really menacing screen presence only a few actors achieve; he can hold his own with the fearsome Tierney, and reminds me a little of a very mean Robert De Niro,” Ebert wrote in his review of the film.
The Chicago native began his acting journey at the Steppenwolf Theatre Company, where he apprenticed under John Malkovich. This foundation led to early film roles in “WarGames” (1983) and “The Natural” (1984), followed by standout performances in “Thelma & Louise” (1991), “Donnie Brasco” (1997), “Sin City” (2005), and Quentin Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight” (2015) and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” (2019).
Beyond film, Madsen lent his voice to video games like “Grand Theft Auto III” and the “Dishonored” series, and he was an accomplished poet with a forthcoming book, “Tears For My Father: Outlaw Thoughts and Poems.”

Madsen’s personal life included three marriages: to Georganne LaPiere (1984–1988), Jeannine Bisignano (1991–1995), with whom he had two sons, Christian and Max, and DeAnna Morgan (1996–2024), with whom he had three sons, Luke, Kalvin, and Hudson. Tragically, Hudson died by suicide in 2022.
Madsen faced legal challenges, including a 2022 trespassing arrest and a 2024 battery charge. He also launched a hot sauce line, American Badass, reflecting his multifaceted persona.
Madsen’s representatives noted his recent work in independent films like “Resurrection Road” and “Concessions,” stating, “In the last two years Michael Madsen has been doing some incredible work with independent film including upcoming feature films Resurrection Road, Concessions and Cookbook for Southern Housewives, and was really looking forward to this next chapter in his life.”
His death marks the loss of a singular talent whose raw intensity left an indelible mark on cinema.
