*Grammy-winning rapper Lil Nas X, born Montero Hill, is navigating legal and personal challenges following a dramatic arrest in Los Angeles on August 21.
The 26-year-old artist faces four felony charges, including three counts of battery with injury on a peace officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. After pleading not guilty and posting $75,000 bail, Hill is now in treatment, as confirmed by his attorney during a court appearance on Monday.
The incident unfolded in Studio City when Los Angeles police responded to reports of a man acting erratically and wandering semi-nude. Viral footage captured Hill, initially in underwear and cowboy boots, balancing a traffic cone on his head and later shouting lyrics from Nicki Minaj’s “Monster” while fully nude. Authorities allege that when officers intervened, Hill became combative, injuring three officers, leading to his arrest and brief hospitalization for a suspected overdose.

Outside the L.A. courthouse on Monday, Hill’s lawyer, Drew Findling, addressed the press, stating, “Obviously, you heard the treatment word. We’re doing what is best for Montero from a personal standpoint and a professional standpoint, but most importantly for his well-being. He is surrounded by an amazing family, an amazing team of people that care about him and love him. We’re just addressing those issues. It’s really as simple as that. He’s had a great life, he’ll continue to have a great life. This is a bump that he’s gonna get over.” While the nature of Hill’s treatment remains undisclosed, his legal team emphasized his support system and recovery.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman underscored the severity of the charges, saying, “Attacking police officers is more than just a crime against those individuals but a direct threat to public safety. Anyone who assaults law enforcement will face serious consequences, no matter who they are or how famous they may be.”
Following his release from Van Nuys jail, Hill spoke directly to fans via Instagram Stories, reassuring them, “Your girl is going to be OK y’all. OK? She’s going to be alright, she’s going to be alright. Sh-t. That was f-cking terrifying. That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is going to be alright.”
His next court date is scheduled for November 18. A conviction could result in up to five years in prison.
