*In a disturbing incident that has ignited outrage among parents and civil rights activists, civil rights leader Najee Ali and a coalition of parents have called for the immediate suspension and arrest of a Latino male middle school student who allegedly assaulted an African American female classmate at Jehue Middle School in Colton, California. (Editor’s Note: In an earlier report, the male perpetrator in this story was identified as being White. He is Latino.)
This violent event, which included the use of racial slurs, was captured in a video that has since gone viral, further fueling demands for accountability.
The assault occurred when the male student knocked the female student unconscious by slamming her head onto a desk.
The graphic nature of the attack (watch below), combined with reported racial slurs, has led to public outcry.
“The N-word, racial slurs, and an attack against an African American female child by this (Latino) male student will not go unchallenged,” declared Najee Ali, Senior Organizer for Los Angeles Metropolitan Churches. In a statement, he demanded immediate action from the school principal, Carolyn Eide, urging her to suspend the student involved in the racial assault.

Parents have voiced their frustrations, particularly over the school’s failure to promptly notify them of the incident. Reports suggest that attempts to contact Principal Carolyn Eide remained unanswered as of 3pm on March 11, 2025. This failure to communicate has compounded the anger felt by parents, who demand a transparent account of the event and appropriate disciplinary measures.
Details leading up to the assault remain murky, with conflicting accounts about how the altercation began. Some reports suggest the female student may have initiated physical contact. However, this context does not excuse the severity of the response. The racial dimension of the incident, highlighted by posts on social media, raises concerns about the environment within the school and the treatment of minority students. Notably, there are claims that anti-Black slurs were directed towards the victim during the incident. While some social media posts have quoted bystanders referencing the language used, these claims remain unverified by official sources.
The call for action has culminated in a press conference and protest scheduled for Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 3pm PACIFIC/6pm EASTERN outside Jehue Middle School. The event is sponsored by a coalition of organizations, including Los Angeles Metropolitan Churches, Project Islamic Hope, and the National Action Network, alongside concerned parents. Activists aim to apply pressure not just for accountability for the individual responsible but also for systemic changes to ensure the safety and dignity of all students in the school. The location of the protest, Jehue Middle School at 1500 North Eucalyptus Ave, Colton, CA, is likely to draw significant attention from the community and media alike. NOTE: Najee Ali will also stream the protest LIVE via his Facebook page, HERE.
While the current narrative is influenced heavily by social media reports, the lack of an official statement from Jehue Middle School, the Rialto Unified School District, and the Rialto Police Department raises further questions about transparency in responding to such critical incidents. The community’s trust in local educational institutions hinges on their ability to address serious matters relating to student safety with clarity and urgency.

As the details unfold, many are left wondering how this incident might impact the broader conversation about race, bullying, and discipline in schools. The need for effective policies addressing hate crimes, racism, and bullying is more pressing than ever.
The allegation of using racial slurs in a school setting underscores the importance of implementing educational programs focusing on diversity, inclusion, and respect among students.
In a society striving to address systemic racism and promote equity, incidents like the one at Jehue Middle School serve as a stark reminder of the challenges that remain. As activists and parents unite to demand justice, they echo a broader call for a safe educational environment free from violence and discrimination.
