*A civil lawsuit filed in Texas on Monday has thrust L.A. Clippers star James Harden into a legal storm, accusing his nephew, Justice Armani Blackburn, of sexually assaulting 40-year-old Marisa Watley during a New Year’s Eve party at Harden’s mansion.
As Ice Cream Convos reports, the complaint also targets Harden and his hired security personnel, alleging their failure to intervene allowed the assault to occur.
According to the lawsuit, Watley was unconscious due to intoxication when the alleged assault took place. As Ice Cream Convos reports, the filing claims that security guards, employed by Harden, were aware of multiple women in vulnerable states at the event but did nothing to ensure their safety.
The lawsuit asserts that Harden bears “vicarious liability” for the actions—or inaction—of his security team, whose negligence, it argues, directly led to Watley’s trauma. The aftermath has left Watley grappling with profound emotional scars, including the development of a stutter.
Her legal team emphasizes the devastating psychological impact of the incident and calls for greater accountability in how security personnel handle situations involving intoxicated individuals at high-profile gatherings.

As the case moves forward, it is likely to draw intense scrutiny to Harden and the broader issue of safety protocols at private events hosted by celebrities.
Watley’s attorneys hope the lawsuit will spark meaningful changes in how such incidents are prevented.
