*Hertz has joined forces with Amazon Autos to make buying used vehicles as simple as shopping online. The rental car giant announced that customers can now browse, finance, and purchase its used cars through Amazon’s automotive marketplace, USA Today reports.
The new program begins in Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, and Seattle, with plans to roll out across all 45 Hertz Car Sales locations nationwide. Buyers who complete their purchase online will pick up their vehicles at a Hertz Car Sales site. Shoppers can find cars by searching “Hertz vehicles” on Amazon Autos, where options within 75 miles of their location will appear.
Hertz, one of the largest used car sellers in the U.S., describes the move as part of its transformation strategy. “Our goal is to reimagine the car-buying experience and meet customers where they are – whether online or in person – with convenience, confidence and scale,” said Jeff Adams, Executive Vice President of Hertz Car Sales. “Amazon Autos is the ideal partner to help us deliver on this, as customers can shop our expansive inventory of high-quality used cars on the same trusted marketplace where millions shop every day.”

Amazon Autos, which launched in December 2024 with Hyundai as its first automaker partner, has since expanded to more than 130 U.S. cities. Hertz is its first fleet dealer, offering a rotating selection of vehicles from brands like Ford, Toyota, Chevrolet, and Nissan.
“This collaboration allows us to offer an expanded selection of well-maintained vehicles from more dealerships across the country, while maintaining the simplicity that customers expect from Amazon,” said Fan Jin, global head of Amazon Autos.
Each Hertz vehicle undergoes a 115-point inspection and comes with a 12-month/12,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, 24-hour roadside assistance, and a seven-day/250-mile buy-back guarantee. Flexible financing, detailed vehicle histories, and e-signature purchasing options are also available.
The partnership signals a new step for both companies in the growing online auto sales market.
