*Forbes removed an opinion piece speculating on how an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump might affect his appeal to Black voters.
The article, penned by USC professor Shaun Harper, carried the headline: “Will Surviving Gunfire Be Donald Trump’s Next Appeal To Black Voters?”
Harper, a so-called DEI expert, suggested that Black Americans, being statistically more likely to experience gun violence, might empathize with Trump following he assassination attempt. As TMZ reports, taking a would-be position by Trump, he wrote, “‘And the Blacks, they love me because they know the terrifying sound of gunshots,’ isn’t that something Trump has ‘actually’ said. Hopefully, he doesn’t. But it isn’t all that unthinkable.”
Harper also suggested Trump pumped his fist in the air after being hit by the bullet as a “Black Power Salute.”
He also claimed the Black population embraced Trump’s mug shot.
What made you laugh the most about this? The premise? The fact that it was written by a “DEI expert?” Or the fact that it’s Forbes? (h/t @cbouzy) pic.twitter.com/GAPl84sND1

Many social media users labeled the controversial article racist. It has been removed from the Forbes website.
On X/Twitter, podcaster Jeff Blehar responded to the article, writing, “What made you laugh the most about this? The premise? The fact that it was written by a “DEI expert?” Or the fact that it’s Forbes?”
Another X user commented, “I laughed because I thought it was a clever parody. I stopped laughing when it dawned on me that it just might be real. I’m back to laughing, but in a way one does when one realizes the world has gone mad.”
Isaac Hayes III added, “Uh @DrShaunHarper I’m gonna need you to step to the front of the Black congregation and explain this asinine headline in your Forbes article. Cause this sounds stupid just reading it.”
Harper has not responded to his article being deleted, promoting one X user to comment to him directly, writing, “For God sake if the title was clickbait or satire…address it cause I don’t know if this will go away.”
