*Questions about Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s finances have resurfaced after his former manager publicly pushed back against a $175 million lawsuit involving alleged fraud and missing assets.
Mayweather has accused former manager Jona Rechnitz of mishandling his money and misplacing portions of a luxury jewelry collection he values at around $100 million. Mayweather claims some items from that collection are missing, SandraRose.com reports.
Rechnitz disputes that version of events and says the boxer’s public image does not match his financial reality. In an interview with YouTuber Spencer Cornelia, he alleged Mayweather regularly uses pawn loans tied to his assets while still flaunting large sums of cash on social media.

He described a system in which Mayweather takes out loans against valuables and pays ongoing fees to prevent those items from being sold off. According to Rechnitz, that arrangement points to financial strain rather than abundance.
The pair’s professional relationship began in 2013 when they met at a basketball game in New York City. Rechnitz said financial pressure became more noticeable around 2020. During that period, he claimed he helped organize celebrity boxing exhibitions to generate additional income.
Rechnitz also pointed to text messages he says show Mayweather pawning luxury items such and monitoring rising storage fees. One exchange reportedly referenced $1.4 million in accumulated charges tied to keeping assets from liquidation.
“It’s sad that Floyd blew through his money. I wrote him many letters concerning his spending habits which are documented. I had many conversations with him about slowing down with the spending, but unfortunately, it caught up to him and now he’s looking to blame others. First, he blamed Al Haymon, and now he’s blaming me,” Rechnitz said, per Boxing News.
“He is unhinged. I hope he can get back on his feet and control his spending. Floyd can continue to lie that he didn’t know about the airplane purchase or the jewelry pawn. The facts speak for themselves. There’s a lot more and I have all of the backup which we tried to show Floyd’s attorney before they filed suit, but he refused to review any evidence that would contradict his frivolous lawsuit,” Rechnitz added.
