*Eddie Murphy’s past life as a party-hard, “do as I please” kind of guy has come to a noticeable end, according to friends of the comedy legend.
RadarOnline notes the shift in Murphy comes courtesy of his longtime girlfriend turned new wife Paige Butcher, who has put her famous husband in “a happy wife, a happy life” mindstate.
“Paige is calling the shots and Eddie doesn’t seem to mind at all, he lets her rule… his slogan these days is ‘a happy wife, a happy life,’ which seems to be working for him — even if it’s not exactly the Eddie his friends once knew!” an insider shared with Radar.
From the looks of it, Murphy has learned what many husbands have found to be the secret to a lasting union. The 63-year-old “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” star recently called it a day on his single status when he married Butcher, an Australian model, in July after dating for more than a decade and six years of being engaged. The couple share two kids between them, 8-year-old Izzy and 5-year-old Max.
Throughout their time together, Butcher has kept Murphy in step. The insider goes on to to reveal that it is her no-nonsense attitude that’s got him “hooked!”

“He can be very high-maintenance, and she puts up with it to a point, but she also doesn’t let him skate by without pulling his weight,” the insider revealed. “She even has him help with household chores, which he does with a smile.
“And she doesn’t let him slink off to hide behind a computer when they’re all clamoring for family time!”
Apparently, Murphy’s new way of doing things is working out just fine, something his friends would never have predicted. Especially with him having “no problem” holding his family down financially and otherwise with a net worth of $200 million.
“He pays for everything, and he’s happy to,” insiders voiced about their Oscar-nominated compadre. “Nobody ever thought they’d see Eddie be a yes-man, but it’s happened!”
In case the thought of a domesticated Eddie Murphy is still hard to believe, the man himself can confirm the change is real.

Chatting with media sources, the “Saturday Night Live” alum admitted he and Butcher enjoy being couch potatoes and get a kick out of channel surfing together every night.
“We watch all those shows, the singing competitions and that kind of stuff,” Murphy said.
Furthering the point, Radar’s source mentioned the funnyman is “well-trained” nowadays when it comes to family life.
“The kids may run amok, but Eddie’s been well trained,” the source expressed. “He has settled into domestic life quite pleasantly and wouldn’t dream of changing a thing.”
“It’s a head-scratcher for his pals — but if Eddie’s happy, they’re happy too!”
