*Sean “Diddy” Combs, currently detained in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, has ignited controversy with his plan to become an anti-domestic violence counselor.
Facing up to 20 years in prison after his July 2, 2025, conviction on two counts of transportation for prostitution, the 55-year-old mogul is exploring ways to reduce his sentence. His attorney, Alexandra Shapiro, told Business Insider, “That’s something that he actively wants to pursue in the future,” emphasizing his desire to work with programs and advocate for change by speaking to youth and others.
However, Combs’ accusers have fiercely criticized the proposal. Douglas Wigdor, attorney for Cassie, told Rolling Stone, “This is utterly preposterous.” Another alleged victim, who claims Combs physically assaulted them in 2010, questioned his motives, stating, “How are you going to counsel someone else when you haven’t done the work on yourself?”
They described the move as “manipulation at its best.” A third accuser echoed this sentiment, asserting, “It’s [making] a mockery of the system. It’s a mockery of everyone he’s harmed. He needs intensive therapy.”
Combs’ legal troubles, which include an eight-month jail stint and convictions following a nearly two-year saga, have severely damaged his reputation. Although acquitted last month of racketeering and sex trafficking charges, his history of violence, including publicized footage of him abusing Cassie, has led to repeated bail denials due to public safety concerns.

His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, has appealed for release, citing “inhumane” conditions at the detention center, such as “expired meals infested with maggots.”
Despite these setbacks, Combs remains optimistic about his future in entertainment. Agnifilo quoted him as saying, “I have more to give,” framing his incarceration as an opportunity to create something meaningful.
Industry insiders, however, are doubtful. One source told RadarOnline, “He is totally deluded if he thinks he is going to stroll out of jail and back into the recording studios and boardrooms he once dominated,” noting that his “radioactive” reputation has deterred major producers and companies.
As Combs awaits sentencing on October 3, his counseling proposal continues to draw ire, with accusers viewing it as an attempt to sidestep accountability rather than a genuine effort to reform.
