Dean Cain Trades Cape for Badge
*Dean Cain, the man who once saved Metropolis as Superman, is now suiting up for ICE. On August 5, 2025, the 59-year-old actor proudly announced he’ll be sworn in as an honorary ICE officer. Because nothing says “truth, justice, and the American way” quite like joining one of the most controversial agencies in the country.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed Cain’s role will be purely honorary, which means it’s less “flying into danger” and more “posing for official-looking photos.”
Still, Cain, a sworn deputy sheriff and reserve police officer, insists this is a serious commitment to national security, CBS News is reporting.
The announcement followed his Instagram post of an ICE recruitment video, urging others to sign up for the agency’s plan to add 10,000 new agents by 2029. Perks include a $50,000 bonus and student loan repayment—sadly, no free capes.

ICE Recruitment: Now Accepting Former Kryptonians
The recruitment drive also lifted its previous age cap of 37, clearing the way for Cain to join despite being old enough to have fought Lex Luthor in bifocals. Trump’s goal is to deport one million people annually, which Cain called “the right thing” to do.
In his Fox News interview, Cain declared, “This country was built on patriots stepping up, whether it was popular or not, and doing the right thing. I truly believe this is the right thing.” Apparently, the Fortress of Solitude now comes with a Homeland Security badge.
Cain claimed ICE focuses on arresting “the worst of the worst,” but government data shows most detainees had no criminal convictions. In superhero terms, this is less “taking down General Zod” and more “arresting Jimmy Olsen for jaywalking.”
Internet Explodes Over Superman-Irony Overload
The backlash was immediate and merciless. Fans pointed out that Superman is literally an alien immigrant, and joining ICE is like Batman investing in the Joker’s startup. Social media even resurrected a Lois & Clark episode where Superman is asked for a green card—life imitating art in the most awkward way possible.
One X user snarked, “Superman himself would be disappointed in you, Dean,” prompting Cain’s short but confident reply: “Not a chance.” The rest of the internet was less convinced, with many accusing him of betraying the hope-and-justice brand he once embodied.

Meanwhile, protests against ICE’s tactics—raids on immigrants, residents with legal protections, and even U.S. citizens—have intensified. Critics call the agency’s approach “rogue,” while Cain seems unfazed by the optics of Clark Kent moonlighting as an immigration enforcer.
From Hollywood to Homeland Security Headlines
Cain’s political leanings have been clear for years, but his latest move comes right after bashing James Gunn’s 2025 Superman film for being “woke” by showing the hero as an immigrant. The irony practically writes itself.
Once a star of prime-time television, Cain now spends more time in law enforcement circles than on film sets. His honorary ICE role puts him squarely in Trump’s political corner, whether or not he ever actually fills out paperwork or chases down a suspect.
Superman may have fought for everyone, but Dean Cain’s ICE era suggests a much smaller circle of who’s welcome in the Fortress of Solitude. Somewhere in the multiverse, Kal-El is shaking his head.
