*When it comes to love, a good man and a good woman are hard to find. As convenient and nice as it is to go current with dating apps, many singles are taking it back to the old school with matchmaking. And have no shame in paying thousands to get the human of their dreams.
Why the switch?
According to Madame Noire, the answer partially lies in burnout. Burnout over dating app usage and what it offers that factors into its success — swipes, messages, and matches. With matchmaking, things shift to focusing on “real outcomes, humanizing the dating experience by establishing real relationships, commitments, and hopefully marriages.”
Citing a 2024 survey by Forbes, the site reports millennials and Gen Z’ers catching it hardest with 80% and 79% respectively reporting feelings of burnout. Other revelations include 40% of those surveyed who admitted to struggling with finding genuine connections on dating platforms as well as 38% who said they had been catfished, and 27% who experienced “love bombing” — being overwhelmed with affection early on.
On average, the survey found folks who mentioned that they spend nearly 51 minutes a day on dating apps. The struggle to find love is real.

As such, matchmaking is on the rise, for Gen Z as well as professionals.
In an interview with PopSugar, Matchmaker Alexis Germany Fox confirmed this, recognizing a seen a 35% increase in Gen Z clients since 2021. In her eyes, the change stems from young people’s approach to dating amid the lasting impact of the pandemic.
For professionals, Solutions Matchmaking founder Viola Steed mentioned to Vice on June 23 about growing demand among professionals in their 30s and 40s. Despite being well-educated, career-driven, and increasingly disillusioned with the quantity over quality issue with dating apps these singles are out for true compatibility, instead of just chemistry.
The question is how much is it worth to you?
As of 2024, Tawkify, the matchmaking platform, reports a big costly range in matchmaking fees, from $3,000 to $50,000. Depending on such things as exclusivity of the service, length of the contract and level of personalization provided, prices vary.
While the costs are too rich for those making modest funds, there is hope in cheaper alternatives the swipe-heavy dating app scene, as found on matchmaking features on Hinge, OkCupid and Tinder.
