*Charlamagne Tha God is offering his perspective on Damon Dash’s “gay” insult and exploring the deeper context behind the hip-hop mogul’s comments.
Speaking on The Brilliant Idiots Podcast, the Breakfast Club co-host explained how public taunts often take on a life of their own in the culture. Charlamagne acknowledged that rumors about his sexuality have circulated for years. As Hot New Hip Hop reports, he compared viral insults to “Thanksgiving turkeys.” The media personality explained, “The reason I call them ‘Thanksgiving turkeys’ [is] ’cause everybody eats off them, and you eat off them for at least a week or two.”
He added that some mockery sticks around permanently, citing recurring digs like “Debt Dash” or “Debt Jam Records” that reference Dash’s reported financial challenges.

The radio host noted that the real issue is not the insult itself but how long it lingers in public conversation. “If you asked me, Dame came to prove he’s not broke,” he said of his recent interview with the Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder.
Charlamagne believes Dash is highly sensitive to online narratives. “He really cares about what the internet says about him. Really cares about what other people think about him.”

He also pointed to external factors, such as reports that 50 Cent had acquired the rights to “Paid in Full,” which may have heightened Dash’s reaction. “That really, really set him off,” Charlamagne said.
We reported earlier that 50 Cent is reimagining “Paid in Full” as a television series. In an Instagram post on September 8, he shared his vision, stating, “I now have the rights to PAID IN FULL, im developing it into a premium Tv show.”
Billboard reports that Cam’ron, who played Rico in the original film, will join Jackson as an executive producer. The 2002 movie, directed by Charles Stone III and produced by Dame Dash and Jay-Z, starred Wood Harris and Mekhi Phifer. A cult classic set in New York City, it was inspired by the real-life experiences of drug dealers Azie Faison, Rich Porter, and Alpo Martinez.
Jackson hinted at the series’ appeal, noting, “if you like God Father of Harlem your gonna love this.”
