*Former NFL star Antonio Brown launched a heartfelt initiative to support a Georgia father facing legal trouble after a desperate attempt to improve his family’s life.
Chris Louis, a struggling dad from Augusta, found himself in handcuffs after leaving his three young children—ages 1, 6, and 10—at a McDonald’s play area while he attended a nearby job interview, the Augusta Press reports. The incident, reported by local authorities on March 22, has since sparked national attention and inspired Brown to take action.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the McDonald’s around 4:30 PM after the children were spotted alone. The kids were safe, but Louis didn’t return until roughly 6 PM. When confronted, the father explained he had no car and no one to watch his children, and he feared letting them walk home alone. Despite his intentions, police arrested him for deprivation of a minor, holding him until the children’s mother arrived.
Louis’s story struck a chord with Brown, who saw a man fighting to provide for his family against tough odds. He set up a GoFundMe campaign, aiming to raise $50,000 to give Louis and his kids a financial lifeline. As of this report, the fundraiser has surpassed $55,000.
“Story caught me by surprise. A dad just trying to find a way to make money for his family. I know he shouldn’t just leave his kids, but some people don’t have the means for babysitting, etc. This GoFundMe is set in place to help this man. I have spoken with GoFundMe and they will get the funds to Chris and his family. I haven’t spoken to Chris yet, but I hope to do so soon,” Brown posted on the campaign page.

“Sometimes people just need some help,” the former Pittsburgh Steelers WR wrote in an X post on April 2. “Happy to help Chris & his family get a stable life,” Brown added. “Spoke to the family.. they have been homeless since November trying to make it”.
Brown kicked off the GoFundMe campaign with a $1,000 donation.
“Have partnered with @gofundme to help raise $ for Chris,” Brown wrote in a separate post on X. “Leaving his kids wasn’t right… but not everyone has the $ or help for child care,” he continued. “Chris was on the Pursuit of Happiness & sometimes ppl just need help .”
