*A former Alaska Airlines flight attendant is speaking out after being fired for posting a video of herself twerking in uniform.
Nelle Diala, who had just completed her six-month probationary period, shared a now-private TikTok video of herself dancing on an empty plane. The clip, meant to celebrate the end of her probation, was captioned, “Ghetto Till I Die, Don’t Let the Uniform Fool You.”
Diala maintains that the video was recorded during a layover on an empty plane and was meant to “hype” herself up. In an interview with Inside Edition, she revealed that Alaska Airlines terminated her for violating the company’s social media policy.
“I put on a proud face every time I stepped on that plane, and for them to terminate me without giving me a chance, it just was unfair,” she said in the clip above, per The Independent. “I was really proud of myself that I came so far. I just didn’t think my video and my post and the way I was dancing would be deemed as inappropriate.”

Diala also suggested that discrimination played a role in her firing. According to a post seen by the Daily Mail, she believed her twerk video was unfairly judged because it was associated with the “urban community.”
“So, of course, the company would like to embrace ‘all cultures’ but leave the minority girl from the ghetto OUT,” she wrote.
Following her termination, Diala started a GoFundMe campaign to help support herself financially. The fundraiser, which has since closed, raised $3,312, according to The Independent.
On the page, she acknowledged that posting the video was a mistake but was shocked by the consequences.
“The video went viral overnight, but instead of love and support, it brought unexpected scrutiny,” she wrote. “Although it was a poor decision on my behalf, I didn’t think it would cost me my dream job.”
She explained that her airline job was helping her fund her small businesses in lingerie and desserts.
“Although this was my dream job I was using the income to fund my blossoming lingerie and dessert business,” she added.
In a statement, Alaska Airlines said: “While we don’t comment on personnel matters, we hold all flight attendants to high standards for conduct and guest care. All new flight attendants are subject to probationary periods, just like all Alaska Airlines employees.”
