*Fans of “The Accountant” can finally get a glimpse of the highly anticipated sequel, as the first trailer for “The Accountant 2″ has officially been released.
Directed by Gavin O’Connor, the film from Amazon MGM Studios, sees Ben Affleck reprising his role as Christian Wolff, the brilliant but deadly forensic accountant. The sequel is set to make its world premiere at South by Southwest (SXSW) in March 2025 before hitting theaters nationwide in April. With O’Connor and Affleck back at the helm, audiences can expect another intense, action-packed thriller.
Affleck serves as a producer on the film that also stars Jon Bernthal, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Daniella Pineda. Here’s the official synopsis:
Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck) has a talent for solving complex problems. When an old acquaintance is murdered, leaving behind a cryptic message to “find the accountant,” Wolff is compelled to solve the case. Realizing more extreme measures are necessary, Wolff recruits his estranged and highly lethal brother, Brax (Jon Bernthal), to help. In partnership with U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), they uncover a deadly conspiracy, becoming targets of a ruthless network of killers who will stop at nothing to keep their secrets buried.

Meanwhile, O’Connor revealed that he’s already thinking about “The Accountant 3,” which has not been announced.
O’Connor told Vanity Fair about his vision for the franchise becoming a trilogy.
“I have a lot of thoughts about what to do with the third. I’ve been thinking about it for a lot of years,” he shared.
How does Affleck feel about a third movie?
“I’m keenly aware of the fact that you kind of have to earn another movie,” the actor explained. “The worst pitfall is to store a bunch of your good ideas for the next installment. If you don’t create an interest demand the first time out there, you’re just going to be playing that to an empty house.”
“The Accountant 2” will have its world premiere at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival before hitting theaters globally on April 25. Watch the new trailer above.
