*In a world where technology moves fast but often leaves behind the most vulnerable, Tyneadrian Fleming is changing the narrative—and saving lives while doing it.
Fleming, a visionary tech entrepreneur, mother of three sons, and former New York City Correction Officer, is the powerhouse behind Black Bird Smart Wristband—an innovative wearable device that’s making waves in the healthcare industry across the country.
Designed with seniors, people with disabilities, and those managing chronic illnesses in mind, the Black Bird Smart Wristband monitors real-time health vitals, detects falls, tracks GPS location, and provides emergency alerts—all through a sleek wristband that syncs with an intuitive mobile app.
With the shockingly low African American participation in the tech industry, her accomplishment is even more remarkable. According to the Brookings Institute, Black founders represent just 1% of tech startup founders, a figure that highlights a stark disparity in the tech entrepreneurship landscape. Venture capital funding to Black-founded startups in the U.S. has experienced a significant decline, with only 0.4% of venture capital funding going to Black founders in 2024, the lowest share in recent years. This is a significant drop from 1.4% in 2021. And while Black people make up 12% of the US workforce, they only account for 8% of employees in tech jobs. This percentage shrinks even further up the corporate ladder, with only 3% of technology executives in the C-suite identifying as Black.
Fleming’s Black Bird Smart Wristband is even Medicaid approved making it available for people with a variety of incomes. Already authorized for use in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Alabama, Florida, Texas, and even Las Vegas, this trailblazing device is becoming the gold standard in smart, preventative healthcare for at-risk populations.

But what sets Tyneadrian apart isn’t just the tech—it’s the mission. A proud Black woman in a male-dominated tech field, Fleming has rooted her company in family and community. Her three sons are not just bystanders—they’re co-builders of this empire, holding down executive roles and driving the evolution of the brand.
Together, they’re proving that generational wealth, innovation, and community-centered care are not mutually exclusive—they’re inseparable.
“I believe in doing well by doing good,” Fleming shares.
With dual Master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology and Health Services Management, Fleming brings a rare blend of insight and leadership. She’s also the CEO of Guided Steps NY Inc., an approved provider agency under the NHTD/TBI Medicaid Waiver, and founder of WAVPro Academy, training the next wave of healthcare entrepreneurs.
From Brooklyn to Birmingham, Tyneadrian’s invention is restoring peace of mind to families who need to know their loved ones are safe. And in a world still catching up to the brilliance of Black women in tech, Tyneadrian Fleming is already light years ahead.

As Fleming often says: “Saving lives one wrist at a time.” That’s not just a tagline—it’s a movement.
