*Jiggly Caliente, the beloved “RuPaul’s Drag Race” star, has passed away at the age of 44.
Known offstage as Bianca Castro, Caliente died on April 27, just days after undergoing a leg amputation due to a severe infection, PEOPLE reports. Her family shared the heartbreaking news via an emotional statement on her Instagram.
“We announce the passing of Bianca Castro-Arabejo, known to the world and cherished by many as Jiggly Caliente,” her family wrote in an Instagram statement. “Bianca passed away peacefully at 4:42 a.m. on April 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and close friends.”
The family praised Caliente’s radiant impact on entertainment and advocacy, highlighting her ability to connect with fans and the love she spread throughout her career. “Her legacy is one of love, courage, and light,” they added. “Though her physical presence is gone, the joy she shared will remain forever.”

The news of her death followed the announcement on April 24 that Caliente had experienced a significant health setback, necessitating the amputation of her right leg. Her family revealed that due to her condition, she would no longer participate as a judge on the latest season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race Philippines”.
Caliente became a fan favorite when she appeared on “RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 4 in 2011. In 2016, she made headlines when she publicly came out as transgender, becoming an influential figure for the LGBTQ+ community.
The drag community and fans alike have shared tributes following her passing. Season 6 contestant Laganja Estranja expressed her grief on social media, calling Caliente “such a kind, caring soul.”
“RuPaul’s Drag Race UK” star Divina De Campo also paid her respects, sending “all my love to the family.”
