*MSNBC has officially named Eugene Daniels as its new Senior Washington Correspondent.
A former Politico journalist, Daniels is no stranger to the network, having made frequent appearances over the years. His new role was announced Monday on Morning Joe, where hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough welcomed him aboard.
“Thank you. You guys put me on TV all the time, so now they just stuck me there. So this is all your fault,” Daniels joked, per TheWrap.
Daniels has appeared on MSNBC more than 100 times and has guest-hosted various programs, including The Weekend. Since first joining the network in 2021, he has served as a Senior Political Analyst. Along with his new correspondent duties, Daniels will also co-host The Weekend on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 to 10 a.m. ET. He will share the anchor desk with Jonathan Capehart and an additional co-host, whom Brzezinski teased as “soon-to-be named.”
Daniels’ hiring comes over a week after the network canned Joy Reid, prompting many of her colleagues and supporters to call for a boycott against MSNBC.

Reports of Reid’s final episode of “The ReidOut” sparked reactions of disappointment from her supporters.
“Everytime MSNBC has a ‘shakeup’ the Black woman solo led show is ALWAYS the first to go,” wrote Ambassador Digital Magazine editor-in-chief Musa Jackson on Threads. “Tamron Hall, Tiffany Cross, Zerlina Maxwell and now Joy Reid. Boycott MSNBC.”
Hall, who departed MSNBC in 2017, also commented on Threads, writing. “Where there is JOY there is friendship and love. @joyannreid is the core of a sisterhood where we see each other and rise together. Next Chapter. Love you Joy Reid @thereidout.”
Meanwhile, conservative commentators said “good riddance” to Reid’s show, Fox News reports. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., wrote on X, “The ad execs and the board finally figured out that racism, lies, and Trump derangement syndrome will put them out of business.”
MSNBC will replace “The ReidOut” with a new show hosted by “The Weekend” anchors Symone Sanders Townsend, Michael Steele, and Alicia Menendez in the 7 p.m. ET slot.
