*All American‘s highly anticipated seventh season is here, bringing a fresh wave of drama, growth, and generational shifts. As the beloved CW series moves forward, it’s not just about high school football dreams anymore—it’s about evolving into adulthood while staying true to one’s roots.
With a new generation of students taking over South Crenshaw High and Beverly Hills High, longtime fan-favorites Jordan Baker (Michael Evans Behling) and Layla Baker (Greta Onieogou) now find themselves in a different role—as mentors, professionals, and newlyweds navigating life’s next chapter.
Speaking with EUR, Behling and Onieogou shared how surreal it is to now be the guiding figures on set, both in front of and behind the camera.
“When we started the show, we had mentors to look up to,“ Onieogou reflected. “Now, it still feels surreal to be in that position. But I feel really grateful to help make the journey easier for our new cast members.“

Behling echoed that sentiment, crediting Taye Diggs (Billy Baker) for setting the blueprint.
“Having a mentor like Tay both on-screen and off was crucial for me as an actor,” he said. “Now, flipping that script and offering mentorship myself—it’s fulfilling. It’s about paying it forward.”
But stepping into adulthood isn’t just a theme for the actors—it’s also a key arc for their characters. Jordan, once the carefree golden boy, now finds himself balancing the pressures of marriage, coaching, and personal growth.
“It’s about bearing extra weight Jordan has never really had to bear before,” Behling explained. “Not just as a coach, but as a presence and a loving husband, supporting Layla while she builds her career and reminding her of the light she brings to those around her.”
One of the season’s most anticipated storylines is how Jordan and Layla navigate marriage while juggling high-pressure careers.
Layla continues building her empire, while Jordan steps into a coaching role that forces him to redefine leadership.
“You’re going to see them maneuver this new phase of life—being a young married couple with robust careers,” Onieogou shared. “They support each other, but natural frictions also come up in any relationship.”
Behling added that Jordan’s coaching journey is deeply personal, shaped by his experiences as a player.
“He wants to be a friend and a coach at the same time because that’s what he wanted from his own coach,“ he explained. “He wants to be the ‘cool coach,’ but he also has to learn that leadership requires balance.”
As the season unfolds, fans can expect Jordan to transition into a more serious role while still being a cheerleader and motivator for his players.
While Jordan and Layla enter adulthood, the show also introduces a new generation of young talent at South Crenshaw and Beverly Hills High. The new faces bring fresh stories, and longtime viewers will see how the original cast weaves into their journeys.
With its signature mix of sports, culture, and real-life issues, All American remains one of TV’s most compelling dramas. As Behling and Onieogou shared, this season is about evolution—both for the characters and the actors themselves.
Season 7 of “All American” is streaming now on Mondays on The CW.
