*When I approached this vehicle (2025 Toyota Tundra SR5), I was scared. It’s a big one. But after a while and getting familiar with the territory, I began to own the road. Let’s get into it.
Design & Features: It’s a big vehicle for the city for sure, but great for hauling and towing. Coming in a few differing configurations including a 5.5 feet bed and 6.6 ft bed, this big pick-up truck is meant for taking care of business.
With a large back seat, you can haul a tiny house and a four-person family in one trip. Seriously, I thought about moving into this truck because it’s just so big.
Featuring a modern black finished grille, with LED lights, this big baby let’s everyone on the road know it’s coming their way. It’s giving … strong, statement piece. Given the Toyota Tundra’s capabilities, believe the designers thought of everything, including the side view mirrors, which extend for ease of monitoring whatever a driver is towing.
Inside was supreme comfort. Each seat hugs its passenger, embracing that body like it’s a warm sweater on a cold day. The center console, one of the most impressive storage spaces I’ve seen in a while, is massive, with loads of space for maybe a small backpack! Plus, if you’re thirsty, there’s plenty of places for drinks around the cabin. One of my favorite features was the rear window, which instead of sliding open horizontally, slides down vertically, opening up the entire rear space for extra ventilation.
Technology: Featuring a 14 inch multimedia screen, parking was a breeze. Toyota offers its Safety Sense technology which comes standard with this model. The safety features I found to be the perfect blend of alerts and assistance. The collision warning I found was a little delayed and a tad hands off, but I appreciate this as a driver who prefers my vehicle to mostly mind its business and not interfere too much. But, with Toyota Safety Sense, drivers can have total control of their drive and customize their features.
Fortunately, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connect wirelessly. But unlike many of the vehicles I’ve tested so far this year, it doesn’t offer a wireless charger. However, drivers would be pleased to find that there are at least two USB-C ports in that giant center console and a few more in the rear for passengers.
The Drive: This big guy handles the road like a boss, hugging curves and managing touch terrain with four-wheel drive capabilities. In fact, I got to try it out immediately on the drive as it snowed pretty hard the night before in New York. Getting out of an icy spot proved to be an opportunity to turn on that four-wheel drive and like magic, I got out of a tight parking spot on a hill with ease. Sporting an i-FORCE Twin Turbo V6 engine, the Toyota Tundra SR5 is delivering on power. It’s not going to give you speed immediately, but once it gets going, folk better get out of the way. I found the drive to be surprisingly smooth and easy, handling giant potholes as if they weren’t there.

Overall, I enjoyed this vehicle. It’s definitely not a great city truck, but awesome for all your towing and hauling needs.
