The ‘First Omen’ Cast Reacts To Filming The Franchise Prequel | Watch

Spooky season is starting early this year with the release of “The First Omen.”

“The First Omen” is a prequel to the horror genre cult classic “The Omen.” The original film was released in 1976 and saw much success. The film received two Oscars nominations along with other nominations and awards. Due to that success, the film spawned a franchise with two sequels and a remake in 2006.

With the film’s popularity and a fan base that has spread over generations. This franchise should get an origin story. Almost 50 years since the first film’s release fans are now getting the back story of the birth of Damien, the demon child who wreaked havoc for decades. As a fan of horror films writer Ben Jacoby wondered what the story of Damien’s birth would look like. What took place before the Thorn family adopted him?

He decided to create that story in hopes others shared the same curiosity. “I am a massive massive fan of the original “Omen” and of all those sorts of 70s horror psychological thriller movies. I had my idea for basically answering some of the questions that went unanswered in the movie,” said Ben Jacoby.

This film takes place in Rome, where a young American woman Margret, played by Nell Tiger Free, is sent to begin a life of service to the church. While there she discovers something very sinister is happening in the church. At the red carpet screening for “The First Omen” the casts gave us their reaction on filming this eerie supernatural horror film.

“This film kind of felt like it grew and grew every day. I walk in thinking one thing is happening and then all of a sudden it’s ten times bigger. It was just a lot,” said Free.

Free’s costar Ralph Ineson shared how the scenery in Rome helped him tap into the fear needed for his character. “While filming you do try to get yourself in that place where you are terrified. And filming in Rome was very easy to do that, said Ineson.
